Peter Obi Mourns Longtime Aide to Senator Dickson, Pays Condolence Visit

Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Zamani Tanko, a longtime aide to former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator, Henry Seriake Dickson.

Obi disclosed that he received news of Tanko’s passing on Tuesday night and described the late retired police officer as a loyal and dedicated public servant whose commitment to duty earned him the respect of all who knew him.

In a condolence message shared on Wednesday, Obi revealed that he paid a visit to Senator Dickson to personally commiserate with him over the painful loss.

According to Obi, Tanko faithfully served Senator Dickson for more than 15 years, demonstrating unwavering loyalty, professionalism and dedication throughout his years of service.

“It is with deep sorrow that I learned last night of the passing of DSP Zamani Tanko (Rtd), who was a faithful aide to my dear brother and our Party Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, for over 15 years,” Obi said.

The former Anambra State governor noted that his visit was aimed at sharing in the grief of Senator Dickson, his family and members of his team who worked closely with the late retired police officer.

“This morning, I visited Senator Dickson to share in his grief and that of his entire team. DSP Zamani served with loyalty and dedication, and his loss will be felt by all who knew him,” he stated.

Obi extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, Senator Dickson and everyone whose lives were touched by the late officer.

He prayed for God to grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort his loved ones during the difficult period.

“On behalf of myself and my family, I extend heartfelt condolences to Senator Dickson, DSP Zamani’s family, and everyone touched by his life.

“May God Almighty, who called him home, grant him eternal rest in His kingdom and continue to bless his family always,” Obi prayed.

The death of DSP Zamani Tanko has drawn tributes from political associates and admirers, many of whom have remembered him as a disciplined, dependable and committed security officer who devoted many years of service to Senator Dickson.

His passing marks the end of a longstanding relationship built on trust and dedication, leaving family members, friends and colleagues mourning the loss of a man widely regarded for his loyalty and service.
