Hon. Thomas Victor Onwubiko, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Amuwo Odofin Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has extended a message of goodwill and success to students across the constituency as schools resume for the new academic session on September 14.
Onwubiko, popularly known as TVO, urged students to approach the new school term with seriousness, discipline and determination, stressing that education remains one of the most important foundations for personal development and a better future.
In a goodwill message to students, parents, teachers and school communities across Amuwo Odofin Constituency II, Onwubiko encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities provided by education and remain focused on their academic goals.
He urged them to see the new academic session as an opportunity to improve on their previous performance, acquire new knowledge and develop the skills needed to become responsible members of society.
According to him, success in education requires commitment, hard work and consistency, noting that students should avoid distractions that could prevent them from achieving their potential.
“Dear students of Amuwo Odofin Constituency II, as you resume school for a new academic session, I encourage you to remain focused on your studies, listen to your teachers and give your education the attention it deserves,” Onwubiko said.
He further advised the students to respect their parents, guardians, teachers and other members of their communities, stressing that good character should accompany academic excellence.
The NDC candidate also urged students to make their parents proud by taking their studies seriously and demonstrating discipline both within and outside the school environment.
“Your parents are making sacrifices to give you the opportunity to receive an education. Honour their sacrifices by working hard, staying disciplined and making them proud through your academic performance and good character,” he added.
Onwubiko emphasised that the future of Amuwo Odofin and Nigeria at large depends significantly on the quality of education and preparation provided to young people today.
He therefore encouraged students to cultivate positive habits, read widely, ask questions in class and seek knowledge beyond their regular schoolwork.
He also called on parents and guardians to continue providing the necessary support and encouragement for their children and wards, particularly by creating an environment that allows them to concentrate on their education.
Teachers, he said, also have an important role to play in shaping the future of the students by providing quality instruction, mentorship and guidance.
Onwubiko noted that students face different challenges in their academic journeys but encouraged them not to allow temporary difficulties to discourage them from pursuing their ambitions.
