Award-winning Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has gifted his former record label signee, Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, better known by his stage name Mayorkun, a Tesla Cybertruck in a gesture that has drawn admiration from fans and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
Davido disclosed the surprise gift in a post shared on his Instagram Story on Sunday, where he uploaded a photograph of the luxury electric vehicle alongside a heartfelt message expressing his affection and appreciation for the singer.
The “Unavailable” crooner wrote: “My gift to you. I love you #iammayorkun.” He also instructed one of his associates, identified as @babzii_chilling, to ensure the vehicle was delivered the following day, writing, “#babzii_chilling pls have it delivered 2moro.”
The post quickly generated excitement on social media, with fans praising Davido for his generosity and the enduring relationship he has maintained with artists who have worked under his record label.
Although the Afrobeats star did not reveal the exact model or monetary value of the vehicle, the automobile featured in the post is a Tesla Cybertruck, the American electric vehicle manufacturer’s highly sought-after all-electric pickup truck.
The Cybertruck has attracted global attention since its launch because of its unconventional angular design, stainless-steel exterior and advanced electric performance. It is regarded as one of the most distinctive luxury electric vehicles currently available on the market.
A review of current pricing shows that the Tesla Cybertruck retails in the United States for between $69,990 and $99,990, depending on the selected model, battery capacity and optional features.
However, acquiring the futuristic vehicle in Nigeria comes at a significantly higher cost. Due to import duties, shipping expenses, customs charges and other associated logistics, brand-new units are estimated to sell for between N200 million and N340 million, making it one of the most expensive luxury electric vehicles on Nigerian roads.
The latest gesture further reinforces Davido’s reputation for rewarding family members, friends and associates with expensive gifts. Over the years, the singer has become known not only for his chart-topping music but also for his generosity toward colleagues, employees and fans.
Mayorkun remains one of the biggest success stories to emerge from Davido Music Worldwide (DMW). He was signed to the record label in 2016 after attracting Davido’s attention through a viral social media video. During his time with DMW, he released several hit songs that established him as one of Nigeria’s leading Afrobeats artistes.
In 2021, Mayorkun officially exited the label to pursue an independent career. Despite his departure, both artistes have continued to maintain a close personal and professional relationship.
