The Management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has expelled two students over alleged involvement in homosexual activities and rusticated four others for one academic session following their involvement in a physical altercation on campus.
The disciplinary measures were announced in a statement issued on Friday by the university’s Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit. According to the institution, the decisions were approved during the 31st Regular Meeting of the University Senate after it considered and adopted recommendations submitted by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
The university stated that the sanctions were imposed in line with its commitment to enforcing discipline and ensuring compliance with the institution’s code of conduct.
“The Management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has approved the expulsion of two students for involvement in gay practice and the rustication of four others for one academic session over acts of fighting on campus,” the statement said.
The institution disclosed that the affected students had already been formally informed of the decisions through separate letters signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr Eli Gbadafu. Copies of the disciplinary notices were also made available to the university’s Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit.
According to the statement, the disciplinary actions were taken in accordance with the provisions of the institution’s Students’ Handbook, Second Edition, as amended in 2025.

The two students expelled from the university were identified as Onumoko Hamza of the Department of Biology Education and Abdulazeez Eneji of the Department of Mining Engineering. The university said both students were found culpable of engaging in what it described as gay practice, an offence it considers a serious violation of its regulations.
In a separate disciplinary action, four students were rusticated for one academic session after they were found guilty of participating in a fight on campus.
Those affected are Favor Akowe of the Department of Microbiology, Simbiat Babamuharuna of the Department of Biology, Zainab Omayoza of the Department of Biochemistry, and Sukura Bukola, also of the Department of Biochemistry.
The university said the penalties reflected its determination to maintain discipline and uphold standards of acceptable conduct among students.
Reaffirming its position, the management stressed that it would continue to enforce the institution’s regulations without hesitation against any student found to have breached its rules.
“The University Management reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, order and a conducive environment for teaching and learning,” the statement added.
It further warned that it “would not hesitate to take decisive disciplinary action against any student found guilty of violating the rules and regulations of the University.”
The management also urged students to acquaint themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and ensure that their conduct aligns with the institution’s expectations, emphasising that adherence to the university’s rules remains essential to preserving a peaceful and conducive academic environment.
