Tinubu Urges Unity, Hope and Sacrifice in 2026 Easter Message

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united, hopeful, and committed to national progress as the country celebrates the 2026 Easter season.

In his Easter message released on April 3, the President extended warm greetings to Christians across Nigeria and around the world, describing the season as a powerful reminder of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the enduring message of redemption for humanity.

According to Tinubu, Easter symbolizes sacrifice, resilience, and the triumph of light over darkness—values he said are particularly relevant to Nigeria’s current realities. He acknowledged that the nation is navigating a difficult period marked by economic challenges and security concerns but emphasized that deliberate efforts are ongoing to address these issues.

The President commended members of the Armed Forces for their courage and sacrifice in confronting insecurity across the country, noting that many continue to serve despite being separated from their families. He assured Nigerians that his administration remains committed to providing the necessary resources and strengthening international partnerships to combat terrorism, banditry, and other security threats.

Reflecting on his recent visit to Plateau State, Tinubu said he had travelled to Jos to sympathize with victims of violence and reassure residents of the government’s commitment to restoring peace. He added that security agencies have given assurances of progress, while support from international partners is also being mobilized to strengthen ongoing operations.

While acknowledging that security challenges persist in some parts of the country, the President expressed confidence that ongoing efforts are beginning to yield results. He urged citizens to cooperate with lawful authorities, promote unity, and reject actions or groups that threaten national stability.

“No nation can thrive where fear prevails, and no progress can be sustained without peace,” he stated, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in building a safer society.

Tinubu also addressed the country’s ongoing economic reforms, admitting that while they may be difficult in the short term, they are necessary steps toward long-term prosperity. He reiterated his belief that meaningful transformation often requires sacrifice, adding that history has shown that enduring progress is achieved during challenging times.

Looking ahead to the next electoral cycle, the President called for political maturity and adherence to democratic principles. He urged political parties and actors to conduct themselves in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act and to prioritize peace, stability, and the national interest in their decisions.

He noted that democracy thrives where citizens and leaders demonstrate responsibility, restraint, and informed participation, emphasizing the need for credible and peaceful political engagement.

Despite current economic pressures facing many Nigerians, Tinubu expressed optimism about the country’s direction. He pointed to improving economic indicators as evidence that the policies being implemented are beginning to yield positive outcomes, assuring citizens that “a new dawn is on the horizon.”

The President also thanked Nigerians for their continued support and trust in his administration, pledging to remain dedicated to delivering on his mandate. He encouraged citizens to remain steadfast, contribute to national development, and keep faith in the country’s future.

“I will continue to serve to retain your trust,” he said, urging Nigerians to play their part in building a stronger, safer, and more prosperous nation.

Tinubu concluded his message by wishing Nigerians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration, expressing hope that the season would inspire renewed faith, unity, and commitment to the nation’s collective progress.
