Atiku Congratulates Adeleke on Osun Governorship Victory

Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State.

Atiku described Adeleke’s victory as a reflection of the choice made by the people of Osun State through the ballot box.

In a congratulatory message, Atiku commended the electorate for participating actively and peacefully in the governorship election, stressing the importance of respecting the outcome of the democratic process.

“I congratulate Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as Governor of Osun State,” Atiku said.

According to him, the election outcome demonstrated the will of Osun voters, who exercised their constitutional right to choose their preferred candidate.

“His victory demonstrates the choice of the people of Osun as expressed at the ballot box,” he stated.

The former Vice President also praised the people of the state for what he described as their passion and peaceful participation in the electoral process.

“I commend the people for their passion and peaceful participation,” he added.

Atiku’s congratulatory message comes after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the Osun State governorship election.

The result followed the collation of results from the various local government areas of the state, with Adeleke securing the highest number of votes to defeat his closest challenger.

The election was preceded by heightened political tension and concerns over possible violence, with political parties and stakeholders trading allegations of intimidation and attacks in different parts of the state.

Despite the controversies surrounding the election, Atiku urged political actors and citizens to respect the democratic outcome and allow the people’s mandate to prevail.

He further wished Adeleke success as he begins another term in office, urging him to remain committed to serving the people of Osun State.

“I wish Governor Adeleke continued success as he continues to serve them,” he said.

Adeleke’s victory marks the continuation of his administration in Osun State, following a closely contested election involving several political parties.

The outcome has also triggered congratulatory messages from political leaders and stakeholders, who have called on the governor to use his renewed mandate to advance development and improve the welfare of residents.

Atiku’s message underscores the importance of peaceful political participation and respect for electoral outcomes in strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

The former Vice President has consistently advocated greater political participation and stronger democratic institutions, while urging Nigerians to use their votes to determine who governs them.

The Osun election has therefore provided another opportunity for political stakeholders to reaffirm the principle that electoral mandates ultimately belong to the people.

With the election concluded, attention is expected to shift to governance and the delivery of campaign promises, as Adeleke begins his renewed mandate to lead the state.

Atiku’s congratulatory message also signals the need for political leaders across party lines to move beyond electoral contests and focus on governance, unity and the interests of citizens.

He expressed confidence that Adeleke would continue to serve the people of Osun State effectively during his new term.
