The announcement was contained in a statement titled “Forever in Our Hearts”, published on the actor’s official Instagram page on Monday.
According to the family, the funeral activities will commence with a Service of Songs and Tributes on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at the Family Worship Centre, Idris Gidado Street, Wuye, Abuja. The programme is scheduled to begin at 5pm.
A second Service of Songs and Tributes will take place on Thursday, December 10, 2026, at the late Pa Theophilus Ogide Duru’s family compound in Okai, Eziama, Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.
The family further announced that the funeral and interment will hold on Friday, December 11, 2026, in Okai, Eziama, Isiala Mbano, where the actor will be laid to rest.
The statement also disclosed that additional Services of Songs are being organised by various branch bodies and professional associations in different states to honour the late actor.
The family expressed appreciation for the support, prayers and condolences received from friends, colleagues, members of the entertainment industry and well-wishers following his death.
Duru, aged 59, died on October 22, 2026, after battling an undisclosed illness.
His death was met with reactions from colleagues and admirers across the Nigerian entertainment industry, many of whom paid tribute to his contributions to Nollywood and his memorable performances in film and television productions.
The actor was widely recognised for his roles in Nigerian movies and his contributions to the growth of the country’s film industry over the years.
