2027: APC Only Party Capable of Winning in Kano, Nigeria — Governor Yusuf Declares

Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Abba Yusuf has expressed strong confidence in the electoral strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that no other political party can rival its dominance in Kano State and across Nigeria.

The governor made this assertion while addressing a large crowd of enthusiastic supporters who thronged major streets in Kano to welcome him back from Abuja, where he had participated in party-related engagements. The reception, marked by chants, cheers, and a visible show of political solidarity, underscored what party leaders described as growing grassroots support for the APC in the state.

Speaking at the event, Yusuf dismissed the prospects of opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that the APC remains the only viable political platform with the structure and capacity to secure victories at all levels of governance.

“APC in Kano State is the only winning party. There is no other party that can take control of Kano and Nigeria, by the grace of Allah,” the governor said, drawing loud applause from supporters.

His remarks come amid intensifying political alignments and early campaigns ahead of the 2027 polls, with several parties already positioning themselves to challenge for power both at the state and national levels.

Governor Yusuf also used the opportunity to respond to critics who have speculated about the longevity of his administration, particularly those who have described him as a potential one-term governor. Rejecting such claims, he expressed confidence in his political trajectory within the APC.

“We did one term in NNPP and left. We will do the second term in APC. There are two terms in APC, the party of the people,” he stated, suggesting that his re-election bid is firmly on course.

The governor’s comments appear to signal a consolidation of his political base within the APC, as well as a broader strategy to align Kano State more closely with the ruling party at the federal level.

In a show of loyalty to the presidency, Yusuf pledged the full support of Kano State for Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections. He commended the President’s leadership, particularly in areas such as economic reforms and infrastructure development, and assured that the state would play a key role in securing his re-election.

“We in Kano are fully behind Mr President and will support his re-election, by the grace of Allah,” he said.

Beyond political declarations, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible development across key sectors. He emphasized that governance remains his primary focus and assured residents that ongoing efforts to improve their quality of life would continue.

“We will continue to deliver dividends of democracy in education, infrastructure, health, agriculture, and youth empowerment for both men and women,” Yusuf said, highlighting areas his government intends to prioritize in the coming years.

He also called on citizens, particularly eligible voters, to actively participate in the democratic process by registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). According to him, voter registration is essential to ensuring that supporters of the APC are able to exercise their rights during the elections.

“I call on all of you to rededicate yourselves to the service of our great party and ensure you register with INEC so that you can come out and support APC in 2027,” he urged.

Meanwhile, the Kano State APC Chairman, Umar Doguwa, described the massive turnout at the reception as a clear demonstration of the governor’s popularity and the party’s strong footing in the state. He noted that the crowd reflected a widespread desire among residents to see Yusuf return for a second term in office.

“The crowd you have seen today is a clear indication that the people are ready to return the governor for a second term,” Doguwa said.

Observers noted that the scale of the reception was significant, with supporters lining the roads from the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport to the Government House. The governor’s convoy reportedly took several hours to complete a journey that would ordinarily take about 15 minutes, due to the sheer number of people who turned out to welcome him.

The event not only showcased the governor’s political strength but also highlighted the growing intensity of political activities in Kano as the 2027 elections draw closer. With major parties mobilizing their bases and refining their strategies, the state is expected to remain a key battleground in Nigeria’s political landscape.

For Governor Yusuf and the APC, the message from the rally was clear: confidence in their chances is high, and preparations for the next electoral contest are already well underway.
