The commission described the allegation, contained in a report by Arise TV, as false, insisting that the exercise was conducted across all 245 registration areas, also known as wards, in the state.
In a statement, INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in Lagos State, Esther Emeh, urged residents to disregard the report, maintaining that no registration area in the two local government areas was excluded from the exercise.
“The news alleging that the display of the Register of Voters did not take place at some Registration Area centres in Alimosho and Shomolu Local Government Areas is false,” Emeh said.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the display of the Register of Voters was conducted across all 245 Registration Areas (Wards) in Lagos State, including all Registration Areas in Alimosho and Shomolu Local Government Areas.”
The commission urged residents to obtain electoral information through its official communication channels to avoid being misled by inaccurate reports.
INEC also called on journalists and media organisations to verify information with credible and authoritative sources before publishing reports on electoral activities.
“Responsible journalism and accurate reporting are essential to preventing the spread of misinformation and maintaining public confidence in the electoral process,” the statement added.
The commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, credible elections and the timely dissemination of accurate information to the public.
The display of the voters’ register is an important part of the electoral process, allowing eligible voters to check their registration details and identify possible errors or omissions ahead of elections.
INEC’s clarification comes as preparations continue for the 2027 general election, with the commission expected to keep voters informed about registration records and other electoral procedures.
