President Tinubu condoles El-Rufai on mother’s death

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended his heartfelt condolences to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma.

Hajiya Umma passed away on Friday in Cairo after a period of illness, bringing an emotional loss to her family and loved ones.

In a statement issued late Friday night by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President paid tribute to the life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind.

Addressing El-Rufai directly, Tinubu expressed deep sympathy, noting that he understands the profound pain that comes with losing a mother.

“Nasir, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mother, Hajiya Umma, which happened today in Cairo,” the statement read.

Drawing from personal experience, the President said he shares in the grief of the former governor, having also endured the loss of his own mother. He described the passing of a mother as a deeply painful experience, one that words alone cannot fully soothe.

Tinubu, however, urged El-Rufai to take comfort in the memories of his mother’s love, wisdom, and guidance, which he said would remain a lasting source of strength.

He also encouraged the family to reflect on the meaningful life Hajiya Umma lived and the enduring values she instilled in her children and those around her.

The President concluded by praying that her legacy continues to inspire and that her family finds peace and strength during this difficult time.
