Police Service Commission Releases List of Successful Police Constable Recruits, Announces Next Phase

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially released the names of successful applicants recruited into the Nigeria Police Force as Police Constables following the completion of the nationwide recruitment exercise for 50,000 new personnel.

The announcement, made on Wednesday, marks the conclusion of one of the country’s largest police recruitment exercises in recent years, an initiative aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force and enhancing national security.

In a statement issued by the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission disclosed that the recruitment process was conducted in close collaboration with key government institutions, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Federal Character Commission, the Ministry of Police Affairs, state career and counselling departments, and the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).

According to the Commission, the exercise was carefully designed to ensure fairness, transparency, inclusiveness, and adherence to the federal character principle throughout the selection process.

Describing the recruitment as “comprehensive, inclusive, equitable and transparent,” the PSC said every stage of the exercise was carried out in accordance with established procedures to guarantee credibility and equal opportunity for qualified applicants from across the federation.

The Commission directed all candidates who participated in the recently concluded written examination to verify their recruitment status through the official recruitment portal.

According to the statement, applicants are required to log in to npfapplication.psc.gov.ng to determine whether they were successful in the recruitment process. The portal became accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

“The Commission advises all candidates who participated in the recently concluded written examination to log in to the official recruitment portal to check their recruitment status. The portal will be opened by 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, 16th July, 2026,” the statement said.

Beyond checking the online portal, the PSC disclosed that all successful candidates would receive official notifications through the email addresses and telephone numbers they provided during the application process.

The Commission explained that the electronic notifications are intended to ensure that successful applicants receive timely information regarding the next phase of the recruitment exercise.

According to the PSC, successful candidates will subsequently be assigned to designated Police Training Institutions across the country, where they will undergo medical examinations, documentation, and other pre-training procedures before commencing formal training.

The Commission noted that the dates, times, and locations for reporting would be communicated to the successful applicants in due course.

It, however, warned that candidates who fail to report within the stipulated period would automatically be deemed to have declined the offer of appointment.

The statement further stressed that reporting to the training institutions does not automatically guarantee admission into the training programme, as all candidates must first undergo comprehensive medical screening conducted by the Nigeria Police Medical Team.

Candidates found medically unfit during the examination, the Commission said, would be disqualified and required to withdraw from the training programme immediately.

“The successful candidates are expected to report to their designated Police Training Institutions on dates and times to be communicated in due course for medical examination and documentation. Candidates who fail to report within the stipulated time will be considered to have declined the offer.

“In addition, those who fail the medical examination that would be conducted by the Police Medical Team on resumption of training will be declared unfit and shall be required to leave the training,” the PSC stated.

To facilitate a seamless documentation process, the Commission directed successful applicants to report with all required documents, including their training call-up slip, National Identification Number (NIN) slip, Bank Verification Number (BVN) slip, original academic certificates and photocopies, as well as every other document and item specified on the recruitment portal.

The PSC urged candidates to carefully study the instructions provided on the portal and ensure full compliance before reporting to their assigned training institutions.

Commenting on the successful completion of the recruitment exercise, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police Hashimu Argungu, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the recruitment of 50,000 Police Constables.

Argungu described the presidential approval as a significant investment in Nigeria’s security architecture, noting that increasing the personnel strength of the Nigeria Police Force would improve policing, enhance public safety, and boost the country’s capacity to combat crime and other security challenges.

He also commended all institutions and stakeholders that participated in the recruitment process for ensuring that the exercise was conducted professionally and transparently.

The PSC Chairman urged the newly recruited constables to regard their appointment as both a privilege and a solemn responsibility to serve the nation with discipline, integrity, and patriotism.

He reminded them that the policing profession demands courage, accountability, respect for human rights, and unwavering dedication to protecting lives and property.

According to Argungu, the successful applicants must remain committed to the core values of the Nigeria Police Force and contribute meaningfully to ongoing efforts aimed at improving public confidence in law enforcement.

“He charged the successful candidates to see this opportunity as a clarion call to serve the nation with dignity, integrity and unwavering commitment to a safe and secure Nigeria,” the statement added.

The recruitment exercise forms part of the Federal Government’s broader strategy to strengthen internal security by expanding the manpower of the Nigeria Police Force, improving policing across communities, and addressing emerging security threats through increased personnel deployment.

With the release of the successful candidates’ list, attention now shifts to the training phase, where the newly recruited constables will undergo rigorous physical, academic, and professional instruction before being deployed to various commands and formations across the country to support policing operations and enhance public safety.
