The founder and Senior Pastor of The Rock Word Church and Dominion International, Dr Adamson Aromaegbe, has died at the age of an undisclosed number.
The church announced his death in an official statement issued on Sunday, August 23, 2026, and signed by Rev. Nnamdy Echezona on behalf of the leadership of The Rock Word Church and Dominion International.
According to the statement, Aromaegbe died on Friday, August 21, 2026.
The announcement has thrown members of the church, colleagues, associates and other members of the Christian community into mourning, as the cleric was described as a prominent spiritual leader whose ministry influenced many people over the years.
The church described Aromaegbe as a “faithful servant of God, visionary leader, teacher, mentor, and Kingdom builder,” stressing that his contribution to the ministry would remain part of his enduring legacy.
“With hearts full of gratitude to God, The Rock Word Church and Dominion International announce the glorious homegoing of our beloved Founder and Senior Pastor, Dr Adamson Aromaegbe, who transitioned into glory on Friday, 21st August 2026,” the statement said.
The church said that although Aromaegbe’s death had created a profound sense of loss, his life and service to Christianity provided reasons for members to celebrate his legacy.
According to the church leadership, the late pastor dedicated his life to spreading the Christian faith, mentoring believers and advancing the vision of the ministry he founded.
“Though we deeply miss his physical presence, we rejoice in the hope we have in Christ and celebrate a life well lived, a race well run, and a legacy that will continue for generations,” the statement added.
Aromaegbe served as the Senior Pastor of The Rock Word Church in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he provided spiritual leadership to the congregation for several years.
Under his leadership, the church became associated with teaching, mentorship and the promotion of Christian values among its members and followers.
His death has therefore left a leadership and emotional void within the church, with members expected to await further announcements concerning arrangements for the continuation of the ministry and the funeral.
Despite the loss, the church leadership expressed determination to preserve and advance the vision established by its founder.
“The vision lives on. The Word lives on. The Kingdom advances,” the church stated, signalling its commitment to continuing the ministry and objectives associated with Aromaegbe.
The leadership also appealed to members of the church, supporters, friends and well-wishers to remember the deceased’s family and the entire Dominion International family in their prayers during the period of mourning.
The church did not disclose the cause of death in its announcement.
It also said details concerning his funeral arrangements and Celebration of Life would be made public at a later date.
In honour of the late cleric, the church quoted 2 Timothy 4:7, a biblical passage traditionally associated with perseverance and faithful Christian service.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith,” the scripture reads.
The quotation reflects the church’s portrayal of Aromaegbe’s life as one devoted to Christian ministry and service.
His death comes at a time when religious organisations across Nigeria continue to mourn prominent clerics whose ministries have played significant roles in the lives of their congregations.
For members of The Rock Word Church and Dominion International, however, the immediate focus is expected to remain on grieving the loss of their founder while preserving the spiritual vision he established.
The church leadership’s statement sought to balance the pain of his passing with its Christian belief in eternal life, describing his transition as a “glorious homegoing.”
As members, family, friends and associates mourn, the church is expected to release additional information regarding the funeral and Celebration of Life once arrangements have been concluded.
Until then, the leadership has urged members and sympathisers to remain prayerful and united while celebrating the legacy of a pastor it described as a teacher, mentor, visionary leader and Kingdom builder.
Dr Adamson Aromaegbe’s ministry, the church said, will continue to serve as a lasting testament to his years of Christian service, with the leadership insisting that the vision he established will remain alive.
